Coker On Paul Heyman/Strikeforce Deal: "I Think It's Going To Happen"

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker commented in a post-show interview last night about the possibility of working with former pro wrestling promoter and on-air talent Paul Heyman in the near future.<BR><BR>

Coker told the <A HREF="http://www.mmafighting.com/2010/08/22/scott-coker-comments-on-upsets-paul-heymans-future-with-strike/" target="_Blank">MMAFighting.com</A> website, "Paul [Heyman] and I have been talking about doing a couple of things together." Coker followed up, but didn't reveal much in the way of specifics, stating "if it works out, we'll do it. I think it's going to happen."<BR><BR>

When can we expect to find out what's going on with this situation specifically? According to the Strikeforce head hauncho, it shouldn't be long until we know the full scoop. "We'll have an announcement in the next couple of weeks."<BR><BR>

Coker made the comments following the entertaining <A HREF="http://www.mmanews.com/news/88572" target="_Blank">Strikeforce: Houston</A> event that aired live on Showtime on Saturday night from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.<BR><BR>

For those unfamiliar, Paul Heyman is best known to pro wrestling fans as the owner of the original "Extreme Championship Wrestling" (ECW) promotion, as well as serving as a former on-air talent and head writer in WWE.<BR><BR>

MMA fans would know Heyman best as the guy associated with Brock Lesnar in a number of ways, one of which includes co-writing the UFC heavyweight champions' upcoming book. Heyman was also the on-air "manager" for Lesnar during the early, integral stages of his run in WWE.<BR><BR>

Heyman has recently put some effort into establishing his identity with the MMA audience, popping up in a number of media outlets during his visit to the <A HREF="http://www.mmanews.com/news/88309" target="_Blank">Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin fight at UFC 116</A>, alongside fellow pro wrestling personalities "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Bill Goldberg and Jim Ross.<BR><BR><!--more-break-->
